You can control which points of interest appear on the map by checking or un-checking boxes in the categories pane. All features are selected by default when you launch GeoXray.
As you move the map around, GeoXray automatically populates the visible area with the features you have selected. GeoXray Culver City Explorer returns results within the city of Culver City, CA. For other areas please contact Geosemble Technologies Inc.
Once you select which features you want to see on the map, the Points of Interest (POI) pane will list those results within the map. You can scroll down and see the list or click on an individual feature listed and the map will show that location called out with a balloon.
As you pan around the map area, the system automatically finds news articles for Points of Interest (POI) and displays them as a small newspaper image on top the POI icon. Click for news.
The system also sorts the news results in alphabetical order with the businesses having news at the top of the list in the POI pane. POI's without news are sorted alphabetically after the businesses with news. Select the Sort by Name link to sort the whole list alphabetically.
The news pane lists articles and other internet mentions for POI's with news in the map view.
News results displayed go back two years in chronological order. News results can be sorted by date with the latest news at the top or by relevance by clicking the "Sort by Date" and "Sort by Relevance" hyperlinks respectively. Clicking a news item launches that news article in another browser.
The search feature allows you to search for a specific address or a business name. The greater detail you enter for an address the better chance the results you are seeking will be returned when searching by address.
Results are populated in the pane below the map. Click on a result and the business is automatically displayed on the map.
When you select an icon on the map, a listed item in search results, or an item in the POI pane the business is highlighted on the map with an information bubble. The information bubble has several features that provide more information about the business. If a picture of the business is available the picture will be show. If there is more than one picture you can scroll through the images with the arrows to the left and right of the graphic.
The Show Street View link shows the view of the street at the business. Clicking on the business name launches the web site for the business.
